Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapy in which you work with a therapist to identify and understand the specific parts of self that make up your internal emotional system. IFS also assumes that everyone has a core, genuine self that can identify, observe, and help these parts become more adaptive, and productive. Richard Schwartz, founder of IFS, states that the Self has traits such as confidence, calmness, clarity, curiosity, creativity, courage, compassion and connectedness. The IFS therapist will help you access these innate traits so that you can work with your parts in a safe, compassionate and supportive way.
